Autumn Wedding in New England

When Meng and Sean chose to celebrate their love at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, they knew they were in for a breathtaking setting. October is the heart of peak fall foliage season in Vermont, and Stowe offers some of the most spectacular autumn landscapes in New England. As their photographer, it was a dream to capture every moment in such a stunning setting.

Trapp Family Lodge:

A Timeless Venue with a European Flair

The Trapp Family Lodge, an iconic Austrian-style chalet nestled in the mountains, provided an enchanting setting for Meng and Sean’s ceremony and reception. This historic lodge is famous for its connection to the von Trapp family of The Sound of Music, bringing a touch of European elegance to the Vermont countryside. With 2,500 acres of wooded hills, meadows, and scenic trails, the venue perfectly embodies the natural beauty that couples dream of for a fall wedding.

The lodge’s architecture, with its rustic wooden beams and cozy stone fireplaces, complemented the warm hues of autumn that surrounded the property. Meng and Sean chose to exchange their vows outdoors elevated on the stage of the Concert Meadow, with the mountains and fiery foliage as their backdrop. The couple included some traditions to honor their Korean heritage, such as the stunning red dress and shoes that the bride changed into for the reception.

Tips for Fall Weddings in New England

Capturing the Magic

For couples planning a fall wedding in Vermont or other New England states, choosing a venue like Trapp Family Lodge ensures that the natural beauty will elevate every moment. Here are a few tips on how to make the most of your wedding photography during peak foliage season:

Timing is Everything: Schedule your ceremony so that Cocktail Hour ends after “golden hour” when the sunlight is soft and warm. This allows the sun a chance to sink a little lower in the sky, which will give you more flattering light on your faces, enhance the bold colors of the leaves, and allows you time for stunning, romantic couple portraits with a golden glow.

Incorporate the Landscape: Take advantage of the stunning scenery by incorporating wide shots that capture the mountains, valleys, and vibrant trees. Meng and Sean’s portraits were framed by the rich hues of autumn, adding depth and emotion to every image.

Embrace the Rustic Charm: Use the venue’s natural elements as a backdrop. The wooden fences, stone pathways, and lodge architecture at Trapp Family Lodge are perfection! There are even Highland cattle!
