But there's really only one thing required on your end to make it happen - a commitment to relax and enjoy the moments. Whether it's tuning out the hustle and bustle of a wedding day and just soaking in the all the love you feel for your partner, letting go of everything clamouring for your attention, or releasing your self consciousness...that's really all it takes. The rest is in our hands. In ten years of working with real people, it has become clear that all that is needed for an unforgettable image is a shutter clicking at the split second of total openness - the clothing, the location, the weather...those things are all secondary to YOU. The less seriously you take your time in front of the camera, the more those magical split seconds will happen. If everything else falls apart - there's a tropical storm on your wedding day, or a groomsman splits his pants before the ceremony, just remember perfection is an illusion but love is real. Knowing that your photographer has it together, knows what they're doing, and is prepared to create the most beautiful photos of yourself you've ever seen regardless of the circumstances - that's what we want for you and that's what we give. There is a certain magical quality to pregnancy - loving without knowing, waiting for the great mystery that is your new little human to appear. It's often said that once the baby is born, you will forget all about the pain of labor. But you don't want to forget the quiet expectation, the beautiful changes, the process of becoming. I'm a big believer in the fact that families come in all shapes and sizes. Big kids, little kids, one kid, no kids...mom & dad, dad & dad, mom & mom...grandparents, best friends, ex-boyfriends (ok perhaps I went too far)...your family is who you love. You're busy. Super busy. But wherever you are in life right now....it's only for right now, and you're never getting it back. You're not too heavy, too awkward, too busy to document this part of your life with gorgeous portraits you will cherish forever. The way your 3 year old connects with you right now can never be duplicated again. It will still be amazing and heart-melting at 5, but it won't be the same. When's the last time you had family photos done? When your 15 year old was 6? in 3 years, they will be off to college. What is the last high quality, wall worthy photo you have of your grandparents? When did you last see them smooch on the lips? Let's get that on camera. When is the last time you were actually in a photo instead of taking them? Yeah, it's time. You blinked and your baby was grown. Where did the time GO? As a mom three, one of the hardest things I ever heard was this: 80% of the time you spend with your child during your lifetimes will be spent with them before they turn 18. I'm not crying, you're crying...ok, I'm crying. Let's dry those tears and start planning your Senior's portrait session. We'll have time for 2-3 outfit changes. We can shoot on the beach, at a park, in a field, downtown, in front of murals, you name it. We can include items that are meaningful to them, like a favorite book, pointe shoes, their pup, their wrestling medals. And you - we can also include you. I encourage mom or dad to come camera ready and jump in for a few. I can hear you protesting now, but I promise you will not regret it. Your Senior's images can be used in their yearbook (dependent upon school guidelines), for graduation announcements, party invitations, wall art, headshots for college and scholarship programs, and more. Many clients love to have an album for the graduation party, with one page left blank for guests to sign. But most importantly. you'll have the memory of this experience and the resulting images long after your baby has left the nest.
